Our 1st 100 year old post! 3783 Mt. Rubidoux

Jennifer and Tammy with Past2Presenthomes.com (find us on facebook!) had the priviledge of touring and learning the history about one of Riversides 100 year old homes! You can find our great video of this home, Past2Present, and the owners by visiting our page on facebook (Past2Presenthomes). There are less than 100 of these homes in Riverside...so this was quite a treat! Following is a description of one of the great homes Riverside can boast about!

The LaMonte Simms 1912 built home located at 3783 Mt. Rubidoux Blvd. in Riverside was originally owned by John Simms who was the President of Riverside Savings and Trust Co and Riverside Title and Trust. He bought 3 lots in 1912 in a new development, reserving the center one for his home. He built homes for his twin sons LaMonte and LeRoy on the other two. He had all the antique, leaded glass windos removed from his 1981 Vicorian home and installed that in each of his sons homes. For some reason, John left his lot vacant for over 60 years.
Louis C. Waldman was the contrator for 3783 Mt. Rubidoux. Tom and Joanne Hershey Purchased the home in 1963. The Hershey's have lived in the house long enough to remodel the kitchen and bathrooms three times! Tom has become the gardener of what at times seems to be the size of a small city park! They love the outstanding views they have of the city lights and the mountains...and the great front porch and sun room which i s home to their Christmas tree in December. And yes...the 41 steps in front of the home, and the ones in back to get to the garage may be the reason these 82, and 86 year old lovely people are still active and healthy, and continue to enjoy their home and community!
Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home, and family history with us and Riverside! We are very proud of you and your investment here!
